Deborah Allison

There is just so much beauty in the world and the challenge of capturing just a bit of it has intrigued Deborah Allison for more than 9 years.  Her watercolors, oils and pastels have been exhibited in art shows in Europe and the U.S. including one-woman shows in Paris, France and Texas.  Her works are in collections in England, France, Germany, Argentina and throughout the U.S.

Deborah was called to create while working in Paris.  This "call" grew more and more intense as she started her studies with Paris painter, Alexandra Georgen-Colin.  After more than five years of working diligently on the basics of drawing and color mixing, the desire to paint outside led her to attend a painting holiday in Provence with British/American artist Timothy Wells.  Although a terribly frustrating process after the controlled environment of the studio, painting on site became the passion that has pushed Deborah to where she is today.

Once the momentum started, Deborah couldn't get enough and attended many workshops with other painters where she picked up various color handling and painting techniques.  She studied pastel portraiture with well-known Texas artist, Perrin Sparks and has completed a number of portrait commissions.  All of these instructors have added spice and flavor to Deborah's work and the result is a style all her own.

Five years ago, Deborah was invited to tutor on the same painting holidays she had attended earlier.  This gave her the tremendous experience of demonstrating her painting skills and sharing her love of the process.  Instead of calling herself a teacher or instructor, she prefers the term "artist's coach" as she feels that her talent is more useful in encouraging others and perhaps helping them to overcome some of the obstacles that painters face.

After spending almost 9 years in Paris, Deborah and her husband Wayne Cline chose to explore the United States in Shenandoah, their 5th wheel trailer.  They spent their time getting to know the neighborhoods and outdoor that cannot be appreciated without spending a little more time -  her subjects being the small corners often bypassed, and streets that are forgotten or overlooked.  One of these journeys took them to Alpine, Texas,  a small town with the rugged, natural beauty of the high Chihuahuan Desert.  Once they met the friendly people and combined that with the surrounding scenery, they were hooked and have since settled there.
